Case Study Profile: Trevor
Trevor is the third player in the harrowdrive.com case study series this year.
Trevor is the most senior player in the study and splits his cricket time between playing 2nd XI UK Premier League club standard with coaching and umpiring. As a player Trevor is mainly a bowler, taking 29 wickets last summer.
Mental Skills
Trevor is one of the more advanced players in the trial when it comes to mental preparation. He is qualified in this area and has spent time developing his own skills and passing advice on to younger players. One of the main reasons he continues to play and coach the game is to stretch his mental powers.
As a result all I need to do with Trevor is help him with a few minor points. I would like to move into more advanced visualisation skills with him. I also want to tinker with his goal setting skills to get them even more honed.
One area I would like to investigate further is how Trevor deals with negative thoughts that could influence his game.
Fitness
Trevor trains 5 times a week with both weights and cardio work, one of the only people in the trial to do any kind of strength training.
As an older player I would like to encourage Trevor to work on his strength and mobility even more. This will help prevent injury and keep him playing well for as long as possible. We will work together to come up with a plan before the season starts.
Nutrition
Trevor has a mixed nutrition profile. On the one hand he usually has a healthy meal in the evenings and gets some fruit in most days. On the other hand he tends to eat processed foods like chocolate, cold meats and biscuits at the expense of healthier options.
Like most people, Trevor will benefit from a diet with more vegetables and healthy fats from nuts, fresh fish and oils. He could also do to cut back a little on the processed foods. I will work with him to find ways to gradually add these to his current eating.
Progress
All Trevor's progress (good or bad) will be tracked here. I believe the changes we are going to make will have a positive impact on his game this summer. Stay tuned to find out.
