This week I have been lucky enough have interviewed 32 excellent coaches who are all vying for ECB Level IV spots.

An innovative idea popped up twice that I reckon could be of use to batsmen who have not found a way - as yet - of freeing the swing of the bat and as a result, struggle to hit with real power.

This drill is a bag of tricks!

The IPL seems a long way from the cricket we play. But it is the same game with the same size pitch, balls and stumps.

It's just the players are a bit better.

So there is bound to be lessons guys like Dhoni, Malinga, Pollard and Morkel can teach us. Even if we may never play at Eden Gardens in front of 60,000.

Somewhere in the world right now is a cricketer panicking.

He's panicking because his season starts in two or three weeks and he has spent the winter doing anything but cricket.

He was too busy for nets, he forgot about the gym membership he paid for in January and pressure for his time comes from all sides; family, friends and work.

What can we learn from the Delhi Daredevil?

On the surface, it appears arrogant to reverse sweep in a Test. Coaches will tell you that cricket is supposed to be played with a straight bat. Youngsters playing it in nets are told to play "properly".

Every batsman should have the skills of a finisher and be ready to chase a total down from any position in the batting order.

For this technical session, I want to work on the cut shot. The two aspects that are key are:

• Swing plane
• Hip snap

What I mean by swing plane is where your bat comes from to where your bat goes. For a safe swing plane and to hit the ball down, you want your bat coming from high to low.
