CRICKET JOBS: Assistant Groundsperson - Hampshire CCC (UK)

Hampshire Cricket are looking to recruit to the groundstaff department of the Ageas Bowl in preparation for the 2015 season.
Alongside its role as the home of Hampshire Cricket, the Iconic Ageas Bowl regularly hosts International matches.
The positions to be filled are full time and will include primarily cricket pitch and ground preparation but also general amenity and landscaped area maintenance.
Experience of First Class cricket is not essential but applicants should have an enthusiasm for the challenges of high quality turf production.

ASSISTANT GROUNDSPERSON - JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting structure
Reporting to Head Groundsman and in his absence the Deputy Head Groundsman
Duties
- Assisting in preparation of first class cricket pitches and outfields
- Assisting in preparation of first class practice facilities
- Assisting in preparation of grounds for matches
- Assisting in preparation of pitches and grounds for second eleven and junior matches
- Assisting with match day management which will include covers placing and removal, water removal and erection of practice nets amongst the many daily duties
- Operation of various pedestrian and ride on machinery to safe levels and showing suitable competence.
- To take direction from the Head Groundsman regarding any reasonable tasks required to ensure the efficient operation of the company
- Some general site maintenance will be required including during the winter months
Qualifications
- Cricket or sports surface maintenance experience desirable
- An understanding of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
- Spraying qualifications up to tractor mounted an advantage
Personal qualities
- Possess an enthusiasm for cricket and the production of high quality sports turf
- Have a positive professional outlook on the role required and be of a smart professional appearance
- Understand the flexibility and adaptability needed to reflect the seasonal needs of a cricket environment.
- Be comfortable in a team environment but also able to work alone successfully when required
- Understand that working hours will vary, to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays, for staffing cricket matches and the seasonal nature of work will mean that hours will be biased towards summer working.
