CRICKET JOBS: Chief Executive Officer - Otago Cricket (NZ)
Closing date: 20th January 2015
Otago Cricket Association (OCA) directs and guides cricket in the lower South Island via four districts, Metro Dunedin, North Otago, Otago Country and Southland, and is one of six Major Associations in New Zealand engaged in domestic cricket. OCA promotes the game at all levels from grass roots to its flagship representative teams, the Volts and Sparks, and currently has in its ranks the captains of both the BLACKCAPS and White Ferns.
Due to the retirement of the incumbent Chief Executive planned for April 2015, the Board seeks his replacement to foster the future of OCA. The Chief Executive must successfully balance the growth and welfare of the game of cricket with sound financial management, whilst forging strong relationships with the players, supporters, volunteers, media, commercial partners and New Zealand Cricket. Working closely with a committed Board, the Chief Executive will lead a team of 13 through 6 direct reports.
The role represents a great opportunity to head a well-respected sporting organisation and calls for proven success at senior management level in commercial or sports bodies. Prerequisites include broad-based strategic ability, well developed relationship management skills and the intellectual breadth to cover its financial and nonfinancial demands. Those of interest will be skilled leaders able to represent OCA nationally who understand sponsorship, marketing and contractual issues. Knowledge and passion for the values and traditions of cricket are a distinct advantage.
OCA will offer an attractive remuneration in keeping with the responsibilities of the role.
