JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF POSITION: Teddington CC - Cricket Coach

POSITION TYPE: Self -employed cricket coach

REPORTS TO: Director of Youth Cricket

LOCATION: Bushy Park, Teddington, Middlesex

Guaranteed: £5k to £6k  (OTE: £13k to £15k)

Hourly rate: from £15 for all group coaching sessions to £26 per hour for 1:1 coaching. 

 


AIM OF TEDDINGTON CRICKET CLUB

Teddington Cricket Club is a ClubMark accredited Middlesex Premier League club with a rich and successful history. in 2014 our 1st Xl won the Middlesex Premier League. We have over 320 junior members from 5 years old to 16 years old. We have an exceptional structure of support and coaching in place under our Director of Youth Cricket, UKCC Level 4 Coach - Josh Knappett. Our mission is to provide coaching that fosters development of young people in a safe and secure environment, a life-long passion for the game and for those players aiming to play the game at elite level, to facilitate the players' development to achieve that goal. 

We have a well-established and large programme running throughout the year that spans: weekends, week night evenings in term time, midweek holiday camps and after-school/before school clubs. 

We are looking for 2 coaches to work with us throughout the year that are reliable, experienced and appropriately qualified to help us to continue to develop our young players and and further improve our current exceptional coach offering. 

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under the guidance of the Director of Youth Cricket, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and successfully implement cricket coaching for players between 6 years old and 15 years old. Players will be of varying degrees of experience, from new beginner to CAG standard. Coaching will be in groups from 5 to 16 and in 1:1 environments too. 


TASK DESCRIPTION (Prime Responsibilities)

  • To deliver fun, engaging and exciting cricket sessions for players of varying ability
  • To drive technical improvement with players across all skills of cricket (batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping)
  • To communicate with high clarity and understanding of players and their motives for participation
  • To work well with children and parents in group environments


TASK DESCRIPTION (Secondary Responsibilities)

Key Task: Expected Outcome:

  • To build team skills, tactical cricket skills required to help increase performance in junior cricket teams
  • To understand or be willing learn about mental toughness and how to support and/or develop these attributes in young people
  • To inspire young people’s life-long enjoyment in the game of cricket and sport generally.  
  • To communicate with wider management and feedback on club matters

QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL:

  • ECB or UKCC Level 2 or above
  • Current ECB DBS/CRB or be willing to update immediately 
  • Must be legally entitled to work in UK
  • Current First Aid or be willing to update immediately
  • ECBCA membership - or be willing to update immediately

OUTLINE OF HOURS:

Winter

  • 4 hours on Sundays (2pm-6pm). 9 weeks remaining 
  • 2-3 hours coaching Monday after and before school clubs - if coach is available. 


Summer

  • 14 Week Club Junior Programme
  • 3 hours per evening (M/Th/F - 5pm to 8pm)
  • 3 hours per Sunday (9am to midday)


  • 1:1 coaching opportunities (approx and as desired)
  • 20 - 25 weeks outdoors 
  • 10 to 15 hours per week - 6-7 hours Saturday, 4-6 hours Sunday


Holiday Camps

  • Potential for 7 weeks of holiday camps (Easter and Summer) 


Additional opportunities 

  • Winter and summer elite junior academy coaching, increased 1:1 and coaching of senior teams - dependant on applicant's suitability, experience, skills, and what they desire
