Penicuik are seeking a Community Coach in 2015. The Community Cricket Coach will work to increase the number of people playing cricket at Penicuik CC, and improve the quality of cricket provision across the authority.

Post Title: Penicuik Cricket Club Community Coach

Service: Penicuik CC / Midlothian Council

Location: Midlothian Council / various sites across authority

Reports to: Penicuik Cricket Club Secretary

Immediate Supervisor: Penicuik Cricket Club Secretary

Basic Hours: Jan – Mar – Average 7.5 hours per week (12 weeks)

April – mid July – Average 5 hours per week (14 weeks)

Basic Salary: £13.50 per hour (travel inclusive)

Major Tasks

• Establish and deliver curricular and extra-curricular cricket opportunities at primary school sites targeting P4-7 aged pupils.
• Formalise links between schools receiving delivery and Penicuik Cricket Club to increase the number of people playing junior club cricket.
• Identify and support opportunities for girls to play competitive cricket.
• Organise CPD for teachers and volunteers to support the development of cricket opportunities in and out of school.
• Actively promote the pathway from school to club at all stages of the programme.
• Establish opportunities to give talented cricketers additional training support.
• Assist with Penicuik Cricket Club Junior nights at the request of the Junior Convenor

Relevant Qualifications

• Minimum Cricket Coach Award (UKCC2) or equivalent
• Must have current PVG Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland

Skills/Experience Required

• Minimum 2 years cricket coaching experience or equivalent in a similar sport and activity related area.

Additional earning opportunities:

• Coaching work with Cricket Scotland (£12.50 / £15 hour)
• 1-2-1 coaching work with Penicuik Cricket Club members
