CRICKET JOBS: Cricket Professional - Greshams School (UK)

The Gresham’s Sports Department is looking for an experienced coach to join the team from April 2016 on a fixed-term basis. You will be required to lead practices, motivate students and instruct the players in current game strategies and techniques.
Summer Term (5th April 2016– 5th July 2016)
Coach the 1st XI pre-season programme
30 hours coaching per week approximately (Senior, Prep & Pre-Prep)*
Assistance with other coaching may be required (in lieu of School accommodation)
Coaching sessions for the public at weekends (Private coaching opportunity)
You will be responsible for all 1st XI coaching sessions and fixtures during the season, along with the development of Cricket throughout the School.
Job Description
Currently Reporting to: Sports Development Director and the Headmaster
Essential Duties
- You will be instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.
- Organise and direct team and individual practice activities.
- Assess player’s skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the Sports Development Director informed of the athletic performance of students.
- The candidate MUST be able to produce a structured coaching programme for the whole school
- Coach in the Prep School under the guidance of their Master-in-charge Cricket.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Model sport-like behaviour and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
- Maintain the equipment room in an orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.
- Assist the Head of Cricket with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- To lead the coaching and accompany the children of the 1st X1 Cricket tour in April 2016.
- To instigate 1-2-1 player coaching and provide feedback for the player and parents.
- To assist Norfolk County Cricket Club with the coaching and managing of youth age players (commitment from the school).
Other Duties
- Attend staff development meetings, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Sports Development Director and Headmaster.
Essential Key Requirements
Qualifications
- A good general level of education
- Holds a current ECB Cricket Level 4 Qualification or equivalent
- Recognised First Aid Qualifications
Professional Experience and Skills
- Experience of coaching players at an international level and being involved in coaching in a professional organization
- Experience of working with students age range 9-18
- Experience of mentoring, supporting and encouraging Coaches
- An understanding of Child Protection
- An understanding of Health and Safety
Personal Qualities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement high quality and varied coaching sessions
- Ability to work efficiently on own initiative
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Ability to monitor and evaluate own coaching sessions

Remuneration and other benefits
- The salary for this position is based on Gresham’s Coaching rate of £30 per hour.
- School accommodation may be available (single person only)
