Located on the picturesque eastern shores of the Derwent River Blundstone Arena, Bellerive is the home of Cricket Tasmania. The venue is host to national and international cricket and AFL matches as well as a range of sporting, corporate and social events in its impressive function centre.

The venue is currently undergoing an exciting phase of redevelopment due for completion early next year.  This upgrade will offer Hobart’s most modern function facilities with the capacity for 1500 guests across 5 function spaces and incorporating 6 bars at our world class venue.

Cricket Tasmania has an amazing opportunity for an experienced Function Coordinator to join our Venue Operations department. Reporting to the Hospitality Operations Manager, this new position will coordinate the delivery of functions and events at Blundstone Arena, ensuring exceptional quality standards and customer service requirements are achieved.

 

Key role responsibilities include:

-Working closely with the Event Sales team regarding all aspects of event/function bookings

-Coordinating the delivery of hospitality activities in function rooms, ensuring rooms and bars are stocked and staffed appropriately

-Supervising and providing on the job development to casual hospitality service employees to ensure a high level of customer service is delivered

-Performing the role of Maitre D’ and other roles such as – preparing and serving beverages, food and operating a cash register when required

-Liaising closely with the Executive Chef prior to, during and after planned events/functions

-Performing administrative tasks as required by the role

-Building excellent working relationships with team members, subcontractors and labour-hire employees

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

-Proven experience in related function, event or hospitality positions

-Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and school holiday periods

-Exceptional food and beverage skills, knowledge and experience

-Strong customer service orientation

-Excellent team work and communication skills

-Analytical and problem solving skills

-Competent administrative and computer skills

-Resilience, energy, initiative and integrity

This fantastic, fixed-term position offers a minimum of 30 hours per week and is for an energetic, team-orientated and passionate Function Coordinator who thrives in a fast paced and fun environment.
