CRICKET JOBS: Internal Communications Manager - ECB (UK)

1. Overview
An experienced communications specialist, able to create strategic plans, lead collaborative project teams and advise on best practice for engaging and informing employees and stakeholders.
They will help to connect all areas of the ECB and to link the organisation to the broader game and its partners, helping to drive shared success.
This will create a more effective organisation, in tune with its people and working in line with the new Strategy for the game and our own Values.
2. Context & Structure
They will report to the Director of Communications and work within Communications, contributing to team objectives and supporting the needs of the whole organisation.
Initially, they will have no direct reports and will be required to lead and inspire collaborative resource within the organisation and to be involved in all aspects of delivery.
They will need to establish resource requirements, coordinate these within ECB and manage future budgets.
3. Working Relationships
The key business relationship will be with the Director of People and their team. They will also support the COO and Executive Assistants to CEO and Chairman in their communication within the game.
Internal Communications must understand and collaborate with all areas of the organisation, in particular the Commercial, Participation and Performance teams.
Cricket also relies on the commitment and support of a network of volunteers who will need to be engaged and informed.
4. Principal Responsibilities
Internal Communications within the ECB includes connecting:
- People to the organisation, across a range of sites plus homeworking and overseas travel
- Players to the organisation, with the assistance of the England team communication managers and performance team
- ECB to its network and stakeholders including First Class Counties, PCA and commercial partners
Within this they will develop the best process and protocols and encourage best practices and behaviours across the organisation.
They will also create and manage a consistent and cost-efficient approach to staging meetings and events for the organisation, working closely with the marketing, brand and events teams.
With ECB people spread across four main sites, a range of homeworkers and volunteers and extensive commitments to overseas travel for players, coaches and staff, new technology and innovative ways of working.
5. Accountabilities
The Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for developing the most effective approach for:
- Written communication to people, partners and the game – for organisation and CEO, capturing his authentic voice
- Staff briefings and meetings within the ECB
- Distributing news and key messages within the ECB and the game
- Creating and coordinating best practice for key meetings and events
- Celebrating success within the game
Measurement is important to highlighting progress and driving change and the outcome of the annual people survey – managed by the People team - as well as regular insight and reporting should form part of this.

- Able to set-up and manage events and high-profile meetings
- Knowledge of sport and sporting environments
- Able to manage collaborative teams and work streams
7. Additional Information
Based at Lord’s but required to travel at times between the sites at Loughborough, Edgbaston and Lord’s and to develop relationships with the communications networks at the First Class Counties and with key stakeholders.
