CRICKET JOBS: Media and Content Manager - Yorkshire CCC (UK)

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is looking to recruit a Media and Content Manager that will be responsible for delivering the Club’s media and content strategy.
The ideal candidate will be a results focused manager, knowledgeable and widely respected, and with a proven track record of managing the media and providing best in class multi-media content.
Knowledge, appreciation and understanding of cricket and more generally the sports industry is essential.
Organisation:
The Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of the most illustrious sports clubs in the world. With over 150 years of history and an enviable record both on and off the field, Yorkshire is one of the 18 major county clubs which make up the English County game.
Yorkshire are the most successful team in English cricket history with 34 County Championship titles – the Club’s last title success coming in 2015. Its home, Headingley Cricket Ground, is one of the major ticket venues in the country with international cricket guaranteed at the venue until at least 2019.
Reports to Head of Marketing & Communications.
The Role:
- Manage the production of meaningful content that is created to promote Yorkshire Cricket, be that: media releases, blogs, videos, photography, match reports, feature articles, official publications, social media, competitions and promotions.
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications to manage key channels of communication to stakeholders and to increase fan engagement. This includes our website, Twitter feed and all other social media channels.
- Have strategic oversight of Yorkshire Cricket’s overall media & content programmes, inclusive of player management.
- Oversee and manage all contact with the media to ensure Yorkshire Cricket is perceived in a positive and proactive light
- Ensure that all written & digital material associated with Yorkshire Cricket is of a standard that reflects positively on the Club.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create an annual content plan that drives media, web, e-newsletter, twitter (and other social media) feeds.
- Oversee all contracted third parties – this includes matchday media support, ECB media feeds, paid photographers and journalists.
- Ensure a regular supply of fresh content is fed into all channels.
- Ensure high standards of journalism, accuracy and presentation are maintained in all content.
- Ensure that the Club maintains a vibrant internal communications network, with all staff fully aware of current plans and developments.
- Manage ECB media requirements on International and major match days. Working closely with the ECB communications team, digital team and media accreditation services.
- Organise a pre-season media day and photo calls with assistance from Marketing and Customer Engagement Executive.
- Oversee all match day media requirements.
- Develop a Media Plan that ensures that Yorkshire Cricket and players maintain a very high profile in all local media.
- Produce and distribute all media releases.
- Evaluate all team and management media skill sets and recommend training and support as appropriate.
- Manage all media related (in the public domain) incidents and recommend strategy for appropriate management and response.
- Develop and oversee media management aspects of crisis management policy.
Community Engagement
Oversee PR activities associated with charities, with special reference to the relationship with our official charity partner, Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, schools and community groups.
Key Requirements:
- They will be a strategic thinker with sound judgement, and have a proven track record of making the right decisions.
- They will be an energetic self-starter with motivation, commitment and enthusiasm. Someone who is not afraid of hard work and happy working at anti-social hours – due to the seasonal nature of the role.
- They will have the ability to present effectively to a wide variety of audiences and in the media.
- They will possess the ability to grasp the strategic opportunities that may contribute to the development of Yorkshire Cricket.
- Outstanding communication skills in all forms especially written and oral but also very aware and capable in web & electronic communication.
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite and Premiere is desirable.
- Clean UK driving licence.
