Marylebone Cricket Club (“the Club”) is the world’s most active cricket club, custodian of the laws of cricket and is also the owner of Lord’s Ground, affectionately known as the “Home of Cricket”.
Lord’s Ground is renowned worldwide for staging international cricket matches with up to 28,500 spectators in attendance. With 200 core employees, the Club is also supported by c. 1200 casual workers during international cricket matches.
Following the launch of pensions auto-enrolment, a fixed-term opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Administrator to deliver a comprehensive and high quality support to the HR and Payroll Departments. This role will be the first port of call for all queries relating to administration of the Club’s Pension Schemes and Payroll. and will act as go-between for the two departments, ensuring that all tasks are completed in full. Key duties include reviewing and updating administrative processes, liaising with pension providers to inform them of any changes to the schemes including starters/refunds/retirements and chasing as appropriate; assisting with monthly reports and statistics; and assisting with the monthly payroll process.
The role will also include assisting with; preparation of pensions related correspondence to scheme members, unit reconciliations and the quarterly accounting for tax returns for pension refunds. Additional duties include administrative tasks such as the maintenance and filing of all payroll and pensions’ information, such as membership data, in accordance with the Club’s deadlines and Pension Regulator standards.
Required skills and experience
With strong numeracy and payroll administrative experience and experience of using a Payroll database and systems, ideally gained in a best practice environment, within another organisation of a similar size, structure or market sector, the successful candidate will also demonstrate an understanding of employment, pension employment, tax and pensions (i.e. auto-enrolment and recent pension changes) legislation.
Good working knowledge of Outlook and Word and Excel to an advanced level is essential, as the role requires frequent use of functions such as V-Lookups and Pivot tables. It is also essential that the successful candidate be a self-starter, highly organised and demonstrate exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Strong communication, along with the ability to prioritise tasks is also required in order to meet deadlines. CIPP membership is advantageous.
Flexibility is required especially during the cricket season, as there is a requirement to work shifts during the evenings and at weekends.
