Personal Development and Welfare Coach – England Women’s Performance Pathway
1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Enable players and coaches in the England Women’s Cricket Pathway to manage their lifestyles so as to sustain success on and off the field.
Whilst the England Women’s PDW reports to the National Lead for PDW on all matters, he or she also has a strong responsibility to work in close association with the Head of Science and Medicine, Women’s High Performance Manager, Managing Director of Women’s Cricket and, relevant ECB England National Coaches.

2. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the strategic development of the PDW Programme within the England Women’s Cricket Pathway, for the England Women, England Women’s Academy and U19 England Women’s Development Programme.
• Manage and lead on the delivery of PDW to England Women’s Performance Squad, England Women’s Academy and U19 England Women’s Development Programme in line with the ECB Sports Science & Medicine strategy.
• Develop and deliver an elite player lifestyle programme for the England Women’s Pathway squads. Provide individual support to these England players enabling them to effectively manage their:
• Dual Aspirations: players are able to fully commit to developing their cricket expertise whilst also being able to continue their educational, vocational, employment or personal development responsibilities
• Personal Wellbeing: players are able to manage their personal life and requirements in conjunction with demands of performance cricket
• Self-Awareness: players are able to better understand themselves and others in the context of high performance sport.
• Management and Organisation: players are able to manage their off field lifestyles in a manner that supports high performance sport.
• Communication: players are able to understand and manage relationships within the performance environment and with external stakeholders.
• Impression Management: players understand that they are ambassadors for the ECB and its corporate and social responsibility initiatives
• Profile players on the England Women’s Pathway twice a year as part of the programme requirements and in line with the Sports Science and Medicine MDT.
• Support the development and delivery of a player induction/exit process through the England Women’s Pathway in consultation with the Programme Leads
• Case manage players on the England Women’s Cricket Pathway ensuring effective and appropriate personals development and wellbeing support is sourced for clinical & non-clinical issues. Signpost and refer players to other professional services on an as needs basis and, ensure you always operate within your professional boundaries / expertise
• Provide timely change and crises management in conjunction with the Psycho-Social and Sports Science & Medicine Team, so that any personal crisis for players on the England Women’s Cricket Pathway is effectively managed with minimum impact on preparation or performance.
• Assist the ECB Psychology staff to deliver an effective stress management programme (including non-performance related stressors) for players.
• Establish and maintain close working relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders and programme partners (i.e. PCA, UK Sport, other professional sports and home country sports institutes).
• Work closely with the Regional PCA Personal Development Managers to design and develop integrated support programmes.
• Attend ECB Science & Medicine Team Away Days, Annual SSM Conference, Multi-Disciplinary Practice and Case Conference meetings
• Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of world’s best practice.
• Liaise closely with the National Lead for Personal Development and Welfare, and be prepared to undertake any other duties related to the work of these functions.

1.    Job Context
The aim of the ECB Science and Medicine is to optimise England's best players' availability and performance through the provision of cricket's best science and medicine services.
An ECB PDW coach is responsible for enabling current and aspiring England players and coaches at all levels to manage their lifestyles so as to sustain success on and off the field. They are responsible for contributing to setting the tone for and managing the environment to ensure a shared welfare responsibility; such as educating the environment and culture of player welfare as critical element of personal wellbeing and performance.

5. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:

• Extensive experience of providing lifestyle support to high performers / achievers in sport, business or the arts.
• Graduate Certificate in Careers Counselling for Elite Performances or equivalent.
• Good undergraduate honours degree preferably in a related field to PDW Coaching
• Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams preferably in high performance sport.
• An in-depth understanding of the issues facing high performers and the challenges of career transitions.
• Experience of working with both established senior and aspiring young performers.
• Flexibility towards work schedules, willingness to travel abroad and extensively within the UK.
• Proven leadership and rapport building skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Full Driving Licence.
• Computer literacy, including MS office, excel and databases.

Desirable:

• Postgraduate degree in related field – PL/Leadership/Mentoring/Coaching/Counselling
• Excellent knowledge and experience in career and education guidance.
• Knowledge of the UK education system.
• Team player, able to work within and contribute to a high performance management structure.
• Demonstrated familiarity within the game of cricket / professional sport.
• Research and development experience in applied performance lifestyle support.
• Experience in applied performance lifestyle support.
• Experience in the preparation and delivery of CPD workshops
