CRICKET JOBS: Personal Development Manager - NZ Cricket

The NZCPA Career & Personal Development Programme was established in 2007 and is now a key part of the high performance cricket environment in New Zealand. The programme serves NZCPA members including current and past NZ professional players.
Professional cricketers commit a tremendous amount of time, energy and focus into their playing career from an early age and this programme seeks to support them in balancing their cricket commitments with developing a career outside the game; preparing players for “life after cricket”.
The demands on professional cricketers are unique and present many challenges in what is a high performance and very public workplace environment – the programme seeks to assist players with their entry into the professional game, managing the various risks & challenges they face during their playing careers, right through to their ultimate transition out of the sport.
The type of person we’re looking for is someone who:
- Preferably has a tertiary qualification relevant to the management & personal development of high-performing individuals, i.e. career development, counselling, psychology, leadership or management
- Has an understanding of career development and how people transition between steps and stages
- In depth knowledge & previous experience with networking, communication & relationship management
- Can demonstrate understanding of the needs of elite athletes & coaches in a high performance environment
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and supervise individuals to develop, and unlock their potential
- Comfortable developing, implementing & evaluating the effectiveness of personal development plans for individuals
- Proven ability to develop career plans and monitor implementation
- Communication and presentation skills which can motivate behavioural change and positively impact people you come in contact with
- Ability to build and maintain extensive business networks which will provide on-going assistance for professional players to transition out of the game
- Excellent active listening skills and an ability to influence people to achieve their potential
There is a travel component to the role: monthly catch-ups with our National PDM (in Auckland), as well as with teams in Otago, Canterbury and Wellington.
