Job Title: School Cricket Coach
Reports To: Cricket Development Officer
Hours: Ad Hoc
Role Purpose:
Sussex Cricket Board (in association with Chance to Shine) is looking for new and enthusiastic coaches to work on their schools cricket programme which currently covers over 130 primary schools. The schools cricket programme forms part of the Sussex Cricket in the Community initiative.
Reporting to the Cricket Development Manager, the main purpose of the role is to provide cricket coaching to primary schools, therefore creating a sustainable future for cricket in education establishments.
Key Responsibilities:
- To plan and deliver programmes for children across all Key Stages
- To ensure that all sessions delivered in schools are inclusive, regardless of ability and are aligned to current Ofsted requirements and PE frameworks
- To communicate with schools on a regular basis
- To deliver sessions during either the curriculum, breakfast clubs, lunch clubs and after school clubs
- To co-ordinate competitions when requested
- To work with local cricket clubs to promote school/club links
- To work on community programmes as and when requested
- To attend meetings, training courses, seminars and workshops in order to develop as a cricket coach
- To promote all Sussex Cricket events and competitions
The School Coach is required to establish effective working relationships with:
- Sussex Cricket Board
- Cricket Development Managers
- Cricket Development Officers
- Community Coaches
- Sussex County Cricket Club
- Affiliated Cricket Clubs
- Primary School Teachers and P.E. Co-ordinators
- Secondary School Teachers and P.E. Co-ordinatorsKnowledge, Experience and Skills
The following skills / knowledge / experience are essential (E) or preferred (P):
- Experience of coaching in a state school environment (P)
- Experience of coaching in a club environment (P)
- Experience of working with children (E)
- Knowledge and understanding of Sussex Cricket Board Vision (E)
- Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding Children policies and procedures (E)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (E)
- Ability to manage you own time (E)
- ECB / UKCC Level II coaching qualification (or working towards) (E)
- Current DBS holder (E)
- Full and valid driving license and access to a car (E)
- Ability to work flexible and unsociable hours (evenings) (P)
- High quality people skills (E)
- Good computer literacy, including MS Office (P)
Core hours are dependent on cricket programmes arranged with individual schools. Programmes will be dependent on each applicant’s current place of residence.
Package
£11.00 - £17.00 per hour dependent on experience and qualification.
