CRICKET JOBS: Tournament Management Accountant - ICC Global Events (UK)

The Managing Director Global Events is seeking to recruit a Tournament Management Accountant to assist with all aspects of finance across the two ICC tournaments in 2017 and start the financial planning for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
 
The Management Accountant – Global Events will support the Finance Manager to deliver all day to day finance operations. Working closely with the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant will deliver all areas of accounts preparation and take responsibility on managing day-to-day financial systems and controls.

Role Context / Organisation Structure
The England & Wales Cricket Board is hosting the ICC Champions Trophy (CT) and the Women’s World Cup (WWC) in June and July of 2017.
                         
The ICC CT 2017 is an elite 50 over cricket event for the top eight one day international nations in the MRF ICC ODI Rankings. The tournament has been staged previously in Bangladesh (1998), Kenya (2000), Sri Lanka (2002), England (2004), India (2006), South Africa (2009) and England (2013).
 
The ICC WWC 2017 is the pinnacle of the Women’s 50 over game and will have the top eight one day international nations competing to lift the coveted World Cup on 23 July 2017 at Lord’s in London.
 
Both events are a great opportunity to showcase cricket at its absolute best and a fantastic opportunity for the England & Wales Cricket Board to put on an amazing event on behalf of the ICC. It’s a really exciting time to be involved in the sport of cricket and a great opportunity for the right person to build on their skills in international events.
 
The CT fixtures will be played at The Oval in London, Edgbaston in Birmingham and Cardiff in South Wales.  The WWC will be played at Bristol, Somerset, Leicester and Derby with the Final at Lord’s in London.
 
Key Working Relationships
The individual will need to develop and maintain exceptional relationships with the ICC, ECB Tournament team, ECB and venue staff.
 
Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities – job specific

  •     Hands-on delivery of day-to-day operations of an exceptional finance function.
  •     Provide support where required on all finance and tax matters.
  •     Deliver high quality and timely financial reporting and information.
  •     Prepare end of tournament accounts and monthly management accounts, forecasts and reconciliations.
  •     Administer a strong control environment to deliver a successful tournament on or below budget.
  •     Build exceptional relationships with team members and venue staff.
  •     Provide support in the preparation of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 budget documentation.

Experience and skills

  •     ACA or CIMA part-qualified.
  •     Exceptional experience in generating and reporting on financial information.
  •     Detailed knowledge and capability of working with accounts packages (Sage 200 preferred).
  •     High level analytical skills.
  •     Excellent people skills to communicate effectively with people at all levels, including ICC Staff and officials, Venue Chief Executives, Venue executives, broadcasters, Tournament commercial partners and ECB departments.
  •     Excellent and demonstrable administrative and organisational skills.
  •     Clear and effective decision making skills.
  •     Track record of delivering superior results and commanding respect.
  •     Success in roles requiring execution of multiple tasks while responding to multiple priorities, under pressure with absolute attention to detail.


 Commitment Required

  •     Potential attendance at all match days during the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 (Five match days at each venue plus warm-ups).
  •     To be flexible and prepared to work unsociable hours, including weekends and long hours where necessary.
