Fielding Drills: Boundary Pick Up
Purpose: To practice picking up and returning the ball on the run in the deep.
Description: The coach (c) rolls the ball so the fielder has to run around the boundary, pick up and return the ball. This can be done using any fielding technique (long barrier, two hand pickup, crow hop, etc). The fielder then runs across to the other side. Repeat until all fielders have moved across and back.

This type of coaching drill would be unheard of in my day (not that I'm so old). The only practice we got was a bit of catching now and again. The slip cradle was also used.
It still amazes me that more emphasis is not put on fielding as so many games are decided by just a few runs.
It's the scourge of club cricket for sure yet it can make such a big difference.
