How to Improve Your Batting Shot Selection: Introduction

Look in the old-fashioned coaching book gathering dust on your shelf and you will see the shot selection mantras. If you have batted at any level you know that shot selection is way more nuanced.

The best cricketers appear to have two or more shots to every ball.

They know exactly when to use these shots and when to cut them out. Tendulkar famously scored 241 without a cover drive (he thought it was too risky to play).

With that epic innings in mind, we are going to look at the main shots and analyse when to use them and when to keep them in the locker.

Well being NOT OUT is not only qualification for you to play test cricket. You should have an art of playing boundary which looks like accident (misfield) rather than Gayle storm. It is true that test cricket needs players and safe wickets but cricket is all about runs. See Australia ,south africa and England play test cricket. All we do is hit according to condition but you should pick singles doubles every ball. I hope you get it

Hi,

I just went through the stance and backlift course of Mr Gary Palmer. I have a 10 year old son who is trying to learn from these videos.
However, for the backlift, when he tries to use his top hand to lift the bat and only use thumb and index finger from the bottom hand, he is having problems.
Since he is youn, his left arm does not have enough strength to lift and move a size 5 bat. Are there any special instructions for young kids who want to bat?
