Learn from Mike: The secret of getting the most from your training is right in front of you
Mike is a cricketer with a problem. He feels like he is working hard but not improving.
Sure, Mike is doing everything he can. He trains in the gym regularly, never misses a club training session and always turns up early on match day for warm ups and fielding drills.
In frustration he heads online for help. What he doesn't realise is that as soon as he sits in front of PC he has a perfect tool to get more from his training: A training log
Track progress on your PC
It's a devilishly simple idea. Log your training to optimise your performance. After all, one of the principles of fitness is that you need to progress to overload. Noting your progress is the only way to really do this.
You can also log other factors that influence you. Use your log to note what you did well in your club training session, or how well you blocked out negative thinking.
That fact is, that Mike is doing well. He just isn't tracking his progress so he doesn't realise it.
If Mike had kept a training log he could be looking at improvements, not failures and that leads to more success on the pitch.
So don't be like Mike. Get yourself a log. You can create a thread here if you want to make it public or just fire up your word processor if you don’t want the world to know.
