Is it really too late?

Hi,
I'm new to here and I'd like to ask a very frank question.
I'm 16, 17 in under a month, is it too late to start playing cricket and have a chance of becoming a good player, as in playing for a county or thereabouts?
I don't see many or any stories of very late developers into the higher level of the game, which doesn't give me much hope ..
I have basically no formal training and I've played in my field for about a year, so even with the maximum amount of effort put into being successful (Clubs, Personal training etc.), would it be possible for me to succeed?
Looking forward to any replies,
Liam

The first thing in cricket is to be confident about yourself. If you have confidence in starting late you will easily progress in your skills. The question isnt is it too late to start playing cricket but if you have the confidence and commitment in putting out the maximum effort to reach the level of your peers.
Good luck LimMcc!

I'd say no, you are not late.
I am 23, finished my engineering and looking for a place here I can get to bat and bowl in nets.
Keep realistic goals. I have personally set 3 years.
You can play and study. I will play and work.
