The secret of SAQ cricket training
So you are convinced SAQ is an essential part for your cricket training. But you havent bought the book yet.
Still Im a generous guy and Im sure Alan Pearson, the SAQ guru, wont mind if I give away an SAQ secret.
The SAQ Secret: A flexible training session.
In my own training programmes I recommend SAQ, particularly pre-season. So here is a typical session that I would run. For a proper breakdown you really need to buy the book. A session is broken down into 7 Phases. Depending on your goals, you can spend more time on one session and less time on another. Typically a session will last about 90 minutes in total, but it can be more or less.
- Dynamic Flex (or warm up)
- Running Form - Drills to develop correct running technique
- Innervation - Drills to develop fast feet, agility and balance
- Accumulation of Potential - Speed circuit training
- Explosion - Drills to develop speed and power
- Expression of Potential - Competitive team games based around speed, agility and quickness
- Warm Down
